When I reflect on my experience at Field, as graduation is just a few weeks away, I realize that I couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling high school experience. While Field excels in their ability to prepare students for the collegiate experience, I have found that some of my most rewarding moments have come from elsewhere in the community. Our daughter started The Field school this year. She is already enjoying the friendships she is building. She is constantly energized by faculty being not only very supportive, but very inspirational. Teachers go to great extent to make subjects interesting and related to immediate life experiences. My daughter has had a wonderful experience at the Field School. She really enjoys the small class sizes and how much attention and support she receives from all of her teachers. More important, she really enjoys the wonderful culture at Field, which is an extremely polite and friendly campus. And the facilities are amazing. Not many students get a view of the Washington Monument from their classroom, but they do at the Field School.
As a soon to be graduate from Field, I’ve had a very positive experience. Field has taught me how to be a strong student with a good work ethic. I had amazing relationships with my teachers making it easier and comfortable when it came to asking for help. Field provided every tool I could need to become successful in life. I am a DC resident with a daughter who is attending The Field School (for high school) and our experience - both as a parent and a student - has been exceptional. From an academic standpoint, Field encourages whole-person development so my daughter can take both STEM and pottery classes. Field has been an incredible experience. The community is welcoming and friendly, and teachers truly care about making the best of their students educational experiences. The activities and clubs have an emphasis on student leadership and expression, which allows for students to exercise their independence early on.
The Field School does such a great job of creating community. Whether in the classroom, through a sport, or in a student-led elective, the administrators, teachers, and staff get to know each student so well. As a result, the school has an environment/culture that meets each student where they are. My daughter has been able to explore so many new ideas and concepts that she might not have considered otherwise had she not felt comfortable enough or encouraged to do so. Our son came to Field School as a freshman. He loved the school! During these last 4 years, we saw him flourish in many ways. Field School offered him rigorous classes, opportunity to participate in the club activities he liked and where he naturally developed his talents, a healthy environment to make great friends and fantastic teachers that inspired him to find his passions. Taking our son to Field School was the best decision we could have made.
My two children (one in middle school and one in high school) started at Field this past year and it has been a wonderful experience for them and our whole family. Both my children came out of school on the first day and said they could not believe how welcoming both the teachers and students were. They adore their teachers and the curriculum has met them both very well and overall I would describe the climate as warm and supportive.
