We are so thrilled that our creative, curious, intelligent daughter is at The Field School. Field really sees our daughter - the midterm reports from the teachers were incredibly illuminating and demonstrated just how well the teachers already knew her. More importantly though, the feedback that they provided was incredibly helpful and tangible so that our daughter was able to incorporate it for even better classroom results. The hands-on learning is a great fit for our easily bored daughter, and she comes home every day tel... read more
Our child started Field as a freshman this year. Field orchestrates an impressive array of activities for new families. We got to meet other new parents several times across the spring and summer. Our child attended several events as well as a camp focused on executive function (for an additional fee) at the end of the summer which was fantastic. By the end of the camp and several on-campus events prior to the start of school our child had made friends and was feeling comfortable, accepted, and excited. We have been continua... read more
I love Field for three reasons: the approach to learning, the approach to grading, and the community. Learning: Field uses project-based learning, which is wonderful for any child, but especially effective for my quick-learner son. Traditional lectures-and-exams leave him a bit bored, but Field keeps him engaged and excited. Our priority is joyful learning rather than academic achievement, but at Field he’s getting both. Grading: Field assesses student progress rather than just grading work. I love this for my gifted student... read more
The Field School provides a wonderful atmosphere of acceptance and rigorous academics for its students. I constantly admire that, as good as it already is, the Field teachers and administrators are constantly seeking to improve. They educate the faculty and staff on best ways of teaching, best ways of learning, and best ways to support emotional intelligence and social justice. Recently, Field completed a huge fundraiser which has already resulted in a sparkling athletic training facility and dance studio and will next inclu... read more
I have three kids at the Field School---two are in the middle school, and one is in the high school. Each of my children is very different in personality and cognitive style. One's an artist, another is much more of a jock. The other one is something else. Each one of them fits in at Field and can find their own path forward. That's a big reason I chose the school. I also like that the learning is frequently project based and involves deep dives into subject matter. Field stokes students' curiousities and trains them to beco... read more
We've been so impressed with The Field School. As parents of a 7th grader in his 2nd year at Field, we've seen firsthand the school's exceptional quality of education— challenging, engaging, and tailored to each student's growth. The faculty are truly top-notch, not only inspiring curiosity and a love of learning but also nurturing each child's individuality. Field's strong sense of community is remarkable; it's a place where students, teachers, and families feel welcomed and supported and state-of-the-art facilities further... read more
We chose Field because it felt like a place where our kids would be nurtured and supported—and they received that in abundance. The relationships formed and confidence instilled will last forever, while academics naturally exceeded expectations. What sets Field apart is how faculty truly sees each student as an individual and meets them where they are. Teachers shepherded our children through high school, listening patiently through challenges and helping them advocate for themselves—skills they'll use forever. Both kids wer... read more
Our daughter just finished her 6th-grade year at The Field School, and it has been an incredible experience. She has grown tremendously as a learner, thinker, and community member. The teachers are passionate, supportive, and deeply engaged, creating a classroom environment that challenges students while nurturing their individual strengths. One highlight of the year was her participation in the World Peace Game, a hands-on simulation where students take on global leadership roles to solve international crises and work towar... read more
Our children just completed their first year in middle school at The Field School, and we couldn’t be more pleased. The warm, inclusive community made the transition from elementary school smooth. Field offers an academic environment that’s both challenging and supportive, helping our kids grow with confidence. Highlights from this year included a hands-on greenhouse build in science and math, a green wall invention project in science, a travel website project in history, and immersive field trips to farms, botanical gardens... read more
