My daughter has had a great experience at the Field School. She started in the 7th grade, and the other students were so friendly and welcoming. Students refer to teachers by their first names, and there are no uniforms or strict dress codes. My daughter has especially enjoyed the year-long Studio Arts offerings (theater, band, photography, journalism). We just attended Back to School night where every positive thought we had about The Field School was reinforced... exponentially! The feeling of community each time we step onto school grounds is only one of the many things that make this amazing school stand apart from the rest. Our daughter, the youngest of 4 kids, enrolled at The Field School in 8th grade and has loved both the middle and upper school experiences. The teachers are VERY committed to working with each student from where each student is to bring out individual strengths and work on individual weaknesses. The school has a demonstrated deep bond among the faculty and is a very interesting size: not too big, but big enough. Most of the faculty seems to know EACH student by name. We have a child in middle school, and have been very impressed with the dedication and attention given to each student. The relatively new Head is fantastic, and she is working hard to make sure the school can be the best of everything - strong academics without overloading and stressing the kids out, and a true sense of community in a small enough size that each student can get individual attention, and isn't expected or even desired to be just like everyone else. It’s a great school and an amazing environment ! I love the teachers, staff and students. I know a Field education will bring me a lot of opportunities. I would love to see a more diverse student body from Field too! It’s fairly new so there is so much to improve on! Great work so far.

My daughter thrived and had an outstanding experience during her high school years. She entered a shy, compliant freshman, and found her voice during her time at field........largely due to the Field School's commitment to "see" every child. As someone who has worked here for many years and has witnessed the transition to a new head of school, I grateful to be part of this school. My daughter started in 9th grade at Field and it has been a great fit for her. During her first year, she was really struggling with kind of introspective writing assignment that she had struggled with at her N-8 school. She is just not wired for that kind of thinking. What was a true revelation was the school's response. It wasn't that she needed to work harder/better/stronger, but that the school needed to help the teacher figure out a better way to teach my daughter. The Field School is inclusive and supportive of every kid's capacity, creativity, and contribution. The result is a truly joyful community of students and teachers that elevates everyone.
