My 8th grader is in his second year at Field School and we couldn't be happier with the education he's receiving, the wonderful community and overall experience. I believe that this progressive school model is the future of education and that all traditional schools will eventually follow suit. Field has been a gift for our two children, one who has graduated and one who currently attends. Our graduate is in college and credits his current academic success to his time at Field. He learned to enjoy writing, which he does a lot of in college, and for years he resisted math and anything math related, until Field. During their time at Field my daughters have not only learned the traditional academics (math, history etc) but also critical thinking, problem solving and “real world “ applications/experiences — something that seems to be missing from other school’s curriculum. This school is amazing. The community is unlike anything I have ever seen. The students are truly what makes this school great for me. The administration however is a whole other thing. The administration recently got changed and the new administration has not been received well so far by the students. It's a great school for anyone out of the ordinary. I wish we had come to The Field School sooner. Our daughter started at Field in the 10th grade (a non traditional year to start high school) and she was welcomed and encouraged to be an engaged part of the community from the moment she was admitted. My daughter had an amazing experience at The Field School. She started in 7th grade after attending a very strict, traditional school 4th-6th. She really thrived at Field where they focused on her strengths and she was able to thrive and grow into a campus leader.
The Field School has been a wonderful school, not only for our son but for our family. When we first arrived at Field we were struck by how welcoming the community was. Today, I attended the school art show called Studio Day. Field has a requirement that all students take art. The ceramics, digital art, paintings and sculptures were all outstanding. Teachers, students, parents, grandparents all mixed together in a joyful atmosphere. There was both a potluck and a food truck. Some folks did screen printing while others tried their hand at the pottery wheel. Studio Day represents the best of Field: creative, innovative, interested in embracing the full student, kind, fun and challenging.
Great School! Our experience at Field has been exceptional. The teachers are truly invested in my daughter's education and her growth as learner. Small class size enabled my daughter to gain confidence in her learning ability.
