As Field parents, we love watching our daughter grow, stretch and become and an even better version of herself. In addition to the "basics" of a middle & high school education, Field stretches into experiential learning to teach in the moment and to the moment. This past fall Field held an "election teach in" during which, over a two-day period, all the classes focused on understand the Electoral College, the voting process, the history of voting, and other big-picture concepts related to the election. Field recognized the i... read more
Hello, it is an honor to share my experience as a Field parent… Saying that we love the school would be an understatement. The way the school is organized and run, you will never feel “new” for more than a day. My son joined the school in 7th grade, I was skeptical on how well he would adjust. After just 2 weeks he said, “mom, I feel like I’ve been at the school for a long time.” The teachers are top notch in their field, students get an adequate amount of homework. The administrators respond promptly to any inquiries. A wid... read more
Finding a school that is the right fit for your child is hard. And yet Field has proven a remarkable home for both of our middle-school aged children. Field takes an expansive, thoughtful and flexible approach to teaching, coaching and guiding its students. We have been incredibly impressed by Field's administrators and faculty, and how they actively enable growth through creative engagement with students as individuals. Since they began their Field journey, we have seen our daughters grow in their academic skills and knowle... read more
Our son is in his second year at Field school. He began in 9th grade, and we have continued to be impressed by the supportive, yet rigorous, academics. His excitement about the classroom material is astonishing and the depth of the subjects he is covering is impressive. He has always struggled with reading comprehension and writing, and and Field has not only pushed him but provided him the tools and understanding that he needs to be able to express himself on paper. He has developed a passion for science and excelled in mat... read more
My child has flourished at Field in both Middle School and Upper School, and I could not be happier with the school. I credit Field for my child’s love of learning, fostered by teaching that allows for creativity and exploration within the context of high academic standards. Field has a refreshing “can do” feel about it, with ample entry points for trying different types of activities and sports, alongside opportunities for participation at high skill levels. As a parent, I have found everyone working at Field to be responsi... read more
We have two children at Field and consider our entire family as part of the community. The school provides a rigorous academic program individualized to each student while also emphasizing social and emotional wellness. The nurturing environment and easily approachable (well-trained) staff have given our children a variety of ways to learn. Field’s incredible ability to weave service learning programs into their interdisciplinary curriculum fosters growth beyond the classroom. Our children are held to achievable high standar... read more
I have two children enrolled in Field, and think it is a special, unique place. This starts with the administration and faculty, who are deeply invested in the school and its community. I see this come out in small ways, whether it be a theatre performance, an arts showcase, a sporting event, or a homecoming celebration, the faculty shows up to both participate and support the kids. And it’s obvious that they really care about. The community. Academics have been great - I have seen my children (rising 10th and 8th graders) g... read more
My family and I had researched and applied to several Washington, D.C. area private schools for our daughter’s high school education. We chose The Field School based on positive review data of the school and our experience during the on-site interview. The Field School’s campus is absolutely beautiful and provides their students with ample space to express themselves creatively. Our daughter is in her second (Sophomore) year at Field, and she is excelling both academically and socially. She currently holds leadership and par... read more
I have two children at Field (Upper and Middle Schoolers) and both have had wonderful experiences so far. The classes and projects are interesting - building a laser maze in science & math, cooking classes in chemistry, the "great debate". The focus is on teaching the students how to think & ask questions. The faculty (teachers and administrative staff) care about the students and their colleagues. The environment is one that fosters curiosity. My children are involved in the amazing theater program (great to begin with; kee... read more
