Everything is to the point where it's bothersome, as if it's in excess. Security goes above and beyond, and the new nurse came from one of the middle schools. Her experience is extensive, and she just gets it when a student needs to go in and rest or when a parent forces a sick kid to come to school.
Honestly, some of the teachers are hard to deal with and aren't always clear-cut in how the class is being directed and what's going on. Fortunately for each of those teachers that most kids struggle with, there are 5 others who do phenomenal jobs getting across the lesson, as well as insight from their own life leaving a lasting impression on students and making all of us more knowledgeable. Course subject matter is varied in difficulty and intensity.
If I had the chance, I would choose to attend Oak Ridge High School again. The curriculum is well suited for a large variety of students, and I always felt that my personal and academic needs were met. The staff is helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure students can succeed. There are many clubs and organizations to be a part of, and not just athletics. Teachers here are dedicated to their work and their students. They are almost always available for students before school, at lunch, and after school. Many teachers hold advanced degrees and very knowledgable in their area. They put in extra hours and go the extra mile to make sure students have the opportunities they need to succeed. Teachers are encouraging, supportive, and approachable. The teachers are a key part to the success of students at Oak Ridge High School.
I've enjoyed ORHS a lot, descpite the challenges and being pushed. But all these experiences will boost my college readiness. Athletic and non-athletic events are plentiful and interactive. I've had many great memories attending countless school sponsored events.
Multiple clubs, intramural sports, drama, band, orchestra, chorale. Something for everyone who wants to be involved.
Most of the teachers with whom I have had interaction display an interest in the students, treat them with respect and hold them to a standard of personal excellence. One teacher in particular seems to have disconnected from his students in presenting subject material, leaving them to "figure it out on their own."
The teachers are all tremendously approachable whether in person or via digital communication methods. The learning environment is geared to let anyone willing to work succeed.
