Overall, the environment at Oak Ridge High School is pretty positive. The teachers, principals, and students were all generally happy to be there. For me, I think the first step is finding your clique, meaning people you can sit with at lunch, meet between classes, or go to the many school events with. After finding some buddies, Oak Ridge High School makes it easy to focus in on your classes and they truly want you to succeed as much as you want to. They provide ample opportunities like extending dates while keeping the cha... read more
Oak Ridge High School was an enjoyable four years of my life. I have good memories of the teachers, extracurriculars, and culture I was a part of. However, there are a few things that are subpar about it. For example, they started to take away some of the arts and science classes on my way out. Now kids have a block schedule and are having classes they looked forward to taken away. Oak Ridge High School has a great place to attend. They need to focus on providing easy access to resources to improve the school climate, but overall do a good job helping students.
Oak Ridge High School is why we chose to live in Oak Ridge when we relocated from Colorado in 2017. My daughter, currently a Sophomore, is thriving in her challenging AP classes, has benefited wholly from the diverse art culture, and is part of the highly accepted LBGTQ community within the campus. The administration & teachers are highly educated & very personable.
It is a good school with many opportunities to grow. Administration cares a lot about the students and the principal has an open door policy.
I moved to Oak ridge last year which was the start of my senior year. I like how community based the school is and also how diverse the school is. It is also a bigger school which I liked about it as well. Something I would like to see change is the teachers be more considerate of our other classes when it comes to their workload they assign us.
Oak ridge high school has academics that will absolutely prepare students for college, however at this expense, the school sacrifices students mental health and the traditional high school experience voiding students activities other than sports. Additionally the school focuses it's energy on test scores and sports as those are how the school recieves funding. So as a result the arts and other student organizations are barely sustained.
Oak ridge high school is an great highschool. It truly prepares you for colleges. Most of the staff members are great and they are very helpful and kind.
Many of the teachers are very nice and always looking to help students who need it. There are many great academic opportunities, as well as extracurricular activities to participate in.
