Sports are important to the school, therefore, the facilities are kept in good condition.
The school dress code is somewhat enforced, so one student can wear the same exact shorts as another one but usually both of them will not get in trouble. Only administration seems to care about dress code.
Oak Ridge High School has some of the most advanced academics I've ever seen. The amount of AP classes offered is very impressive. Unfortunately there are no IB classes but I feel the school is so advanced it's only a matter of time until there are some offered. The building is nearly brand new, only a couple years old. The technology is very advanced, every classroom has a projector connected to a school-issued laptop for every teacher. Every teacher is also required to have varied media techniques for every lesson so there is variety, not always powerpoints, not always hard copy reading. There is a computer lab for every core subject and the library has in-depth and vast resources for every student. All the teachers that I had were very enthusiastic about their subject and knew their material very well. And they had good teaching methods, and were willing to answer any question students may have.
There are many sports to join from football to swimming. Students only go to the football and basketball games mainly, and not the other sports. Not every students have school spirit, but for those who do, there go all out.
For me, my high school taught me to stay focus on work, not to slack, and try your hardest on your work.
There are many opportunities for a student to get involved with a club or a spot, so it is nice to have a variety. The hard part is picking one.
Oak Ridge High School is a great place to prepare one else for college, all one needs to do is apply oneself.
