My parents sent me here because of it being college prep. It really isn't though. With it being a charter school and K-12, there isn't much opportunities to join activities like at a regular public school. My biggest regret is not being able to join more things.
I went to this school my entire high school career and I really have loved it and never really had any problems with the school.
This school has been my home for the past thirteen years. I have met some of my closest friends and favorite teachers. But, the school itself has been going downhill for quite some time now. For example, I took Spanish classes for three years and never had a real teacher. I have learned that teaching myself and doing schoolwork on my own is easier than trying to have an actual teacher do their job.
I attended ACS, and so thankful my kiddos have the opportunity to attend ACS as well. From the curriculum to the students our children are not pressured into doing things that other schools are struggling with. Only thing I hope is for more days to not wear uniform, maybe more fundraisers/cause for the kiddos to dress out of uniform.
This is our first year at The Academy and we have been very impressed so far. We had our daughter (now in 6th grad) at a private school the last two years and she is getting a better education from more dedicated teachers at The Academy than she was at the private school. The electives are great and the staff are committed to creating a safe place for learning. Of course, there will be bullies and jerks in every school. But, any issue we've had has been dealt with immediately AND effectively. Committed and caring teachers co... read more
I have been a teacher at this school for 19 years and my daughter has been a student for 11 years (since PreK). We both love our school. It's not perfect. If you are looking for a perfect school, it doesn't exist. But I can tell you from an insider's perspective, everyone who works in our buildings gives their all and wants each student to not only achieve academically, but to be a well rounded, happy individual. I love being part of a charter school because the status quo never has to stay. Often parents and staff spearhead... read more
The teachers have been amazing at helping my child grow socially and academically. They use the Leader in Me to teach students how to be a leader and take responsibility for their own learning and growth. The Wonders and EnVision curriculums help students become problem solvers and explain their understanding of skills. There are also many other programs utilized to provide differentiation to help EVERY student achieve their best. The administrative team, CEO all the way down to each principal, focus on supporting teachers, ... read more
I have gone to the academy since kindergarten and am now entering my senior year here. I love the teachers and small community. Tiny but mighty!
I was at the academy for 11 years and it definitely had its ups and downs. The school claims to be a college ready school but the school itself is not. However if you take front range community college while going to high school that really helps. I enjoyed the teachers that actually stay at the school for longer than a year. I enjoyed the music departments the best.
