The Academy is a great place to send your student. The admin does not deal with bullying or elicit substances much but the teachers are nice and many prepare you well for college.
We have enjoyed our time at The Academy. From K-5th, we were impressed with the elementary school teachers . Recently, I had the opportunity to meet many of the middle school staff at Outdoor Ed, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Everyone was genuinely invested in the students. Overall, our daughter has really enjoyed her experience at The Academy.
Our kids have been at The Academy since Pre-K and we’ve been really happy with the experience. Teachers are communicative and are open to discussing when our child has had a challenge. They hold our kids accountable in an appropriate way as they learn, and are supportive - truly caring about them as individuals. The support staff and administration have been helpful in working through a 504 when it was needed. My experience has been very good. I have been here since 1st grade and all the teachers are amazing. You can always get the help you need and all the support.
Overall, we have had a very good experience with the Academy. A great deal of support was introduced when my child fell behind in reading, and that support has continued. However, I recognize that it can be more challenging for students to catch up when they are struggling in multiple subjects and working with multiple teachers. Personally, I would like to see more printed materials and textbooks incorporated into the curriculum. So far we have been pleased with The Academy. We had a couple hiccups with communication as a new family/student to their school but once that was ironed out things to be smoothing out. The pick up line is not easy but I don't think any school is. We haven't heard any complaints from our student. So overall not too bad.
I've overall enjoyed the school I wish the admin understood us better and treated us with a bit more welcome. That being said, I've always felt welcome here. I've played basketball since middle school and I've enjoyed it significantly.
As a parent who has had children at The Academy for many years, I can truly say we’ve had a wonderful experience with this school. I have one child who has already graduated from The Academy, and my daughter is currently a junior who has been here since kindergarten. This school has been amazing in teaching and developing my son in his academic career. Thr teachers and administrative staff are great. The only thing is the drive line is terrible and the flow is painfully rough getting in and out the parking lot for drop off and pick up. I wait till 4pm to go get my son and its much easier. Maybe they should consider staggering the let out time. That's just me
