The school has varies policies set in place to protect the students. They keep pretty much a tight leash on everyone and make sure rules are followed. Any misconducts are immediately addressed and because it is a small school, word will get around and students will know who has strayed. Rocky Mount Academy is a private college prep school. It has available different clubs for everyone to join. Musical dance, drama club, skeet shooting club, tennis, soccer, basketball, cross country, football, volleyball, swim team, etc. There is a a counselor available to give guidance for juniors seniors starting the college application SAT process who may be confused and short on information. We moved from NJ and chose to seek what Rocky Mount Academy has to offer and right away from the moment we met with the admissions officer, we loved how welcoming she and the school was. It is a small school but the facilities were fine and suited the needs of the students. I love it the most because it encourages all students to be a part of the school. The teachers are very good and they range in all ages and capacities even outside what they teach. some are going for Masters degrees and some are even alumnis of the school. One particular project my 13 yr old had in a civics class was to do a real life money management project. Obtaining a house, pay the mortgage, with children, what the real life costs would be. There are a lot of sports available to the students and all kids are encouraged to participate whether or not they had experience. Lots of team spirit and fun days especially football. We play other private schools and academies, sometimes travelling 2 hrs to a game. Parents generally come and support the students. The coaches do a lot of work to keep us in training and fit. The school has been established over 50 yrs ago and there are some parts that is obviously old. Nevertheless the school makes many updates and renovations that the students and faculty enjoy. Lenovo computers are distributed to all the students and they do summer cleanup service for the laptops. A rated school for college prep courses Honors and AP classes. Terrible place for a child to be taught. They are mean people and encourage foul behavior. The students are horrible people. The teachers are ok. The only people to be blamed are the parents who raised such terrible childern.
