Snail's pace - Cart path only - fine. Waiting on every hole ~10m not so fine. I quit after 5 - hour and a half. Seems golfers confuse the course for a park.
what happened The traps were completely untended. They were rock hard without any sand. Some of the fairways had major bare spots, for example: holes #4, #7, #9, #15, #17.
No sand in the traps. I’ve played there several times and it was in much better shape. Going downhill. Need a Marshall to move slow play along. Very frustrating waiting on every shot and watching the people in front wandering around and in no hurry. 2:40 minutes to play 9 so I bailed out and went home.
Horrible pace of play Nice course, though putting green was not open when we were there. Biggest factor is the incredibly slow pace of play. Does Chardonnay just pack the bookings and then say go deal with it? Will not be back because of that. Slow, slow, slow play, waited 5-10 minutes on almost every tee box.
pace of play 5 1/2 hour rounds are not my cup of tea. Three of the people in the group I was playing with quit after 6 holes and said they were going next door to Eagle Vines and try to get on their and play. This course in bad need of a Marshall! I saw the Cart Girl at least twice during 6 holes, but no Marshall. That's why the lower rating & would not recommend.
Abandoned course in wine country It’s as though the course has been abandoned. I’ve played it several times and have never seen it look so awful. The course is in really bad shape. Greens are OK but everything else is sad. On top of that there was no beverage cart and the call box phone on 9 definitely hasn’t worked in a decade.
Very similar to it's neighbor, Eagle Vines If you like 5 hour rounds, poorly maintained tee boxes, bunkers without any sand and burnt out fairways, you'll love Chardonnay. We were constantly bumping our balls in the fairway to find some grass and there's no adequate sand in any of the bunkers! Tee boxes were pretty rough as well. The only difference between Chardonnay and Eagle Vines is that at least Chardonnay had beverage service on the course. Very little service at the pro shop or post round. We didn't try the restaurant.
