I only gave them 3 stars based on current Tex Mex standards which have become increasingly weak since about 1990 or so. The fact that so many people give this place 5 stars proves people do not know what good Tex Mex is anymore. The refried beans were bland, the rice was just like the rice at a 1000 other restaurants and just as mediocre. My puffed taco was pretty good. I will say the staff was very courteous and polite. But food-wise? Overpriced, mediocre, tourist trap.
My husband and I were recently as Esparza's for dinner and drinks and we truly had such a wonderful experience. Our waitress gave us the absolute best service, we will be back very soon.
Good TexMex at a Good Price. Esparza's has been a mainstay in the Grapevine restaurant business for many years. After having eating there several times throughout the years, I find that they continue to improve on a very basic theme--cheap, tasty TexMex food. We were turned away at the door. The waiter said they couldn't make any food because the computers were down. I'm not sure what kind of ovens would be impacted by the computers being on the fritz but I am doubtful he was being truthful as people were being served on the deck as we walked away.
Excellent Service. Everyone in our party was very happy with the food at Esparza's. The atmosphere was great and we really had a great time. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent.
Better Mexican in Grapevine. Esparza's has been around a very long time and I know many who enjoy the strong Margaritas there (although I've heard they have declined in quality), but it's just not a great choice for us... it's basically a tourist trap. Service and food are both very average... and sometimes worse. Grapevine is the Christmas Capital of Texas and this time of the year draws them in. Loved the chips and salsa. The food was very good. Out of 4 adults we all enjoyed our meal. Would eat here again. Staff very friendly.
Definitely have had much better Mexican food. We come here to eat about every time we are in Grapevine, will not be back. The chips were so old and stale, sent them back. Appeared to be fresh from a bag, not homemade at all. I ordered a chicken enchilada and cheese enchilada, I have had better from fast food places. It was very busy with people drinking and the margarita my husband ordered was not worth the price. The quality of food is not what it has been in the past. We were extremely disappointed.
