St. Mark’s Cathedral School has been a wonderful experience for our family. Between our two children, we have experienced the Little School, Lower School and now Middle school. Both of our children have thrived academically, socially, and spritually. We have been consistently impressed at the challenging curriculum, loving and supportive faculty and staff, and the wide variety of extra curricular options to meet each of our children’s varied interests and learning styles. St. Mark’s also integrates Christian principles into ... read more
When our oldest child was ready for kindergarten, we visited several schools in the area, both public and private. Our visit to St. Mark’s left us with no doubts that this was where our children needed to be. Our son and daughter both spent 9 years at St. Mark’s and the educations they received gave them the tools to succeed in both high school and college. Our son is now an engineer, and our daughter is in medical school. Their success is truly rooted in the academic and spiritual excellence of St. Mark’s Cathedral School.
As parents of two St. Mark’s alumni, we’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of a St. Mark’s education. Our boys thrived in small classes with rigorous academics and enriching electives, guided by teachers who pushed them toward excellence while nurturing them spiritually. They loved playing numerous sports, and we proudly cheered on our favorite Lions! The faith-based environment was invaluable to us as parents and helped shape their spiritual foundation. Their preparation for high school exceeded our expectations, and t... read more
I have had three children educated at St. Mark's, and their experience has been unique to each. The oldest discovered a gift for math and languages, as well as performance and theater. The second discovered a love for the biological sciences, and the "practicum" that comes with applied learning, and the third thrived in the comradery with students, teachers, and administration while awakening to their potential as a student. Like most private schools, the teachers at St Mark's were available upon request, and generally gave ... read more
We are grateful to be a part of the St. Mark's community! Here, our three children find a nuturing and inspiring environment where they learn, grow, and thrive. St. Mark's is a wonderful Christian environment where faith and learning go hand in hand. The teachers and administration are truly dedicated—they care deeply about the students and work hard to provide both a strong academic foundation and a nurturing atmosphere. The education is challenging in the best way, encouraging each child to reach their full potential while... read more
St. Mark’s provides a wholesome, engaging atmosphere for all students, teachers, and families. The education is challenging and interactive. The level of rigor is above all schools in the Shreveport area. Kids are well prepared for high school, and they are at the top of their class - wherever they may go. The children leave St. Mark’s with a good moral compass and education. The sense of community is big at St. Mark’s, and there are lots of ways to meet families at different school-wide events.
The school is a nice place to spend $10,000 if you want a mediocre education. Unfortunately, it seemed the school went from being a challenging curriculum to a “teach to the test” institution with grades dictated by parents with their checkbooks . It’s difficult to believe over 80% of a grade is on the highest honor roll with a rigorous curriculum. A stronger leadership in administration that has high standards might bring the school back up to its former reputation. Unfortunately for now it is just mediocre.
