We have been coming to Hope Lock for obedience training for our Catahoula/German Sheppard/Cattle Dog mix since we rescued him one year ago. He was so fearful of everything at first; especially people, car rides, trash trucks, loud noises, etc. It took about a month to get him comfortable enough to jump into the car by gradually luring him in without even leaving the driveway. My dog was boarded for 4 days and I paid for extra play time. When I called for updates the owner gave me the same robotic response everyday. I’m not even sure if my dog got the extra play time I paid for. On the first day my fully potty trained dog had an accident in the crate and they failed to mention that he spent the remainder of his stay sleeping on the bare crate floor. I just want to thank Missy & Hope Lock Kennels. I am so grateful I joined their obedience classes. My 2 year old chocolate lab Reesie is in the advanced class and my puppy Tikka will be starting the obedience beginner class in July. I am a first-time dog owner of a rescue dog. About a year into owning her we were attacked by an off-leash dog, which sent us to the vet and emergency room. This was followed by covid, which meant less socialization for my dog and me. My dog's reactivity grew, and my PTSD from the incident grew. Our dog has visited Hope Lock twice now. Once for an extended period and the other for a weekend stay. The staff is super lovely and Missy (the owner) is very responsive. I was very anxious the first time we boarded her and her warmth put me at ease. You can tell they are just dog people who will love your fur babies for the short time they get them!
