The Golden Brown Bakery is located in the center of downtown South Haven, Michigan, a resort gem on the southeastern shores of Lake Michigan. We've been producing the finest baked foods in our area since 1938. The bakery is less than a two hour drive from Chicago, and less than an hour from Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, or South Bend. Factor in our second location in St. Joseph, 25 miles to the south, along with our commitment to traditional standards and original formulas, and you will sense how we can continue the pride and quality of retail baking in southwest Michigan. Great donut shop/not so great cafe
The bakery/donut section was great. Lots of fresh variety first thing. They seem to have a short line that moves quickly. The breakfast cafe was another matter though. Hospital cafeteria all the way. Seemed to be a local older men hang though.

Tasty memories.....
We stopped here after a late lunch at Clementines, and before continuing our trip back home.
The bakery section had a nice selection of cookies and bakery from which to choose (of which we purchased several options).
The staff person was very friendly and accommodating.
This little episode gave us several days of tasty memories from our South Haven visit.

Overwhelmed when busy
Let me start by saying, the wonderful ladies who work here are the greatest. The system in place just isnt working. They need more help, a better way of getting food out faster. The wait time is very long and people walk out. The food is great and very reasonable. Management can you just work on that.

Good food

Excellent breakfast!!
Stopped in for breakfast. Food was excellent. Service was outstanding. People who are working there were extremely friendly. Would definitely go back again. Bakery items looked AMAZING but I held strong and didn’t buy anything because my waistline wouldn’t benefit from the items they’re selling. If you’re looking to indulge in some awesome looking sweet treats, definitely stop in at this bakery.

The food was quite tasty, expensive and service was quick. I would return to this establishment.

Delicious
We always come here when in town- the restaurant is clean and the service is great(miss Laurie and miss Brittany). My hubby gets the eggs , bacon and cheese on a bagel or some other variation - it’s perfectly cooked each time (he privately calls the chef grandma).
The sausage gravy is the best I’ve had and the biscuits are perfect . Even the egg white omelets are delish!!

Delicious Bakery
This was our first pick for breakfast on our weekend camping getaway this fall. Delicious pastries and donuts. Everyone found something they loved... lemon puff, pumpkin donut, apple cinnamon and cranberry walnut scones. Fresh coffee. It was a great stop and we carried our hot coffee down to South Beach afterwards which is a scenic and easy walk away. Didn't eat anything hot, but the bakery selection was HUGE from breakfast items to cookies, cakes, and other desserts.
