I was with State Farm for several years with my coverage going up yearly even though I've never had a traffic violation or a automobile accident in my 54 years of life. Then a friend suggested Erie Insurance through Down Insurance Agency and to my disbelief Erie Insurance was about $60 cheaper per month and its FULL COVERAGE while State Farm was just Liability coverage but with a higher monthly rate. I called to get information on possibly installing a wood stove as backup heat (in our basement) in the event our electricity goes out. I was pleased to learn that, with proper installation and guidelines followed for wood stove use, Erie would cover this. Other insurance companies have stated homeowners' insurance would be cancelled if a wood stove was installed, even in a workshop.
