50/50
Carlton arms is a much older apartment complex. It's very cheap and affordable for being located in a very nice part of winter park. We have a 2/1 and rent is less than $800 a month which you can't beat else where. There is a waiting list which is $50, but once approved and accepted you can use that $50 towards your application fee(s). The waiting list is typically long so call and plan ahead if you're serious about renting here!
There is no "security" BUT we do have neighborhood watch which they are on golf carts patrolling the neighborhood every night ALL night. They also do late night maintence work (after 5pm once the front office is closed). When we first moved in the AC didn't work but they did quickly fix it. One weekend our fridge just croaked and they replaced it immediately with a newer refrigerator.
PARKING! You must have a decal or they will leave you notes on your car threatening to tow. Also usually during the weekdays the parking is completely full so either come home early or expect to park on the other side of the neighborhood, but if you're lucky a person on their golfcart will be riding around and usually can A. help you find a spot or B. Give you a ride to your building. Or you have another option to pay $20 a month extra for a carport.
All apartments and townhouse have no washer or dryer in them, but the complex does have 2 laundromat facilities on the property which is opened from 6am to 11pm $1.50 per wash load and $.25 for every 8 minutes in the dryer. Bring your own quarters and laundry detergent. Next to each laundromat is a pool and a club house which is available for rent.
The apartments are semi tiny and very old but a little love and some airfreshner for the hallways will take that old retirement home smell out!
If you have kids, request either the 1st floor or a townhouse because you can hear EVERYTHING;luckily, we're on the 2nd floor but unluckily we have gotten noise complaints because of our 2 kids (3yr and 7yr) but hey we warned them!
This apartment complex is near I4 and the 408. You're right off the corner or Aloma and Semoran blvd. Up the block is Lakemont ave. There is a walgreens, Publix, whole foods, cvs, chase bank, 5/3 bank, ymca, etc. Aloma elementary, Brookshire elementary, and winter park high school which are A schools are close by as well!
You're in a great location! Overall this apartment complex is older but very convenient for the location and price.
